Course Description:

This course examines the effect of addictions on people. Drug use and drug abuse, effects of abuse, adolescent drug use, and sexual addiction. Principles for counseling the addict are explored. 
 

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course, students will:

  1. Understand what is addiction?

  2. What lay counselors should know about drugs

  3. The warning signs and treatment of substance abuse, the addiction cycle, recovery from addiction, and a spiritual road to recovery

On-Site Lesson Schedule:   

Readings Prior to Arrival:  The first three chapters in False Intimacy: Understanding the struggle of sexual addiction The Instructor will give an overview of the course and will emphasize the important points.

Course Requirements:

1. Attending the course’s lectures in the announced conference.

2. Having daily access to the Internet and basic typing skills.

3. Turning assignments after the dead line may reduce the score by 25 %

4. There will be a comprehensive final exam which will be following all the rest of the work that has been completed and turned in.

  2. Explore any three of this addictive behavior: food (compulsive overeating, bulimia), Work and success, control, money (overspending, hoarding, gambling), approval (the need to please people), materialism (obsession with acquiring things), preoccupation with entertainment (video, computers, movies, music), Obsession with physical beauty
