Course Description:

            A consideration of the dynamics of marriage and family relationships is given. The emphasis is on understanding the structure and function of marriage, the various aspects of the marital relationship, family systems, and ways the lay counselor may approach marriage and family counseling as a creative, preventative, and healing ministry.

Course Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course, students will:

  1. Understand the dynamics of marriage and family relationship.
  2.  Understand marriage trough out the family life cycle
  3. Various aspects of marital relationship.
  4. How counselors may approach marriage and family counseling as a creative, preventive, and healing ministry.

On-Site Lesson Schedule: 

            Readings Prior to Arrival:  The first three chapters in the Hope Focused Marriage Counseling

           The Instructor will give an overview of the course and will emphasize the important points.

Course Requirements:

1. Attending the course’s lectures in the announced conference.

2. Having daily access to the Internet and basic typing skills.

3. Turning assignments after the dead line may reduce the score by 1 points per day with a max of seven days.

Research paper

The paper is to be divided into two parts:

A.     Summary of research about 75% (you demonstrate a knowledge and comprehension of your subject)

B.     Personal analysis about 25% (evaluate the validity of research, drawing conclusions based on your research)

Choose one of these areas

  1. Restoring a marriage that has been damaged by infidelity.
  2. How to build intimacy.
  3. The importance of forgiveness in the marital relationship.
