Course Description:

This course is an introduction to the lay counseling in our Coptic Orthodox church. This course will emphasize the root foundations of Christian counseling. Profile of a shepherd-lay counselor: lessons learned from the good shepherd 
 

Course Objectives:

The student will:

1. Develop an appreciation for what lay counseling is and is not.

2. Learn the definitions of counseling from an Orthodox point of view.

3. Be provided with a balanced perspective on the field of counseling.

4. Know why one should be engage in lay counseling.

Caring for people God’s way; Tim Clinton, ED.D, Archibald Hart, Ph.D, George Ohlschlager, J.D. AACC. And Thomas Nelson Publishers
 

On-Site Lesson Schedule: 

Readings Prior to Arrival:  The first three chapters in Caring for people God’s way

The Instructor will give an overview of the course and will emphasize the important points.

Course Requirements:

1. Attending the course’s lectures in the announced conference.

2. Having daily access to the Internet and basic typing skills.

3. Turning assignments after the dead line may reduce the score by 25 %

4. The research paper will be due at the end of the semester.

Choose one of these areas:
