Course Description:

This course is designed to introduce the lay councilor to the basic Christian parenting skills and to help them provide sound Christian advice to parents on how to achieve the basic goals of parenting namely to know their children, help them succeed in different areas of life and lead them to Christ. 
 

Course Objectives:

  • Identify different parenting styles

  • Identify the Christian basis for parenting

  • Provide parenting advice to parents for children at different developmental stages

  • Know the different parenting skills and discipline techniques.

  • How to help parents help there children be successful spiritually and in all other aspects of life.

 

Required text (used for reading assignments):

1) Christian Parenting &Child Care. William Sears M.D. & Martha Sears R.N.

2) Positive Discipline . Jane Nelsen Ed.D.

Recommended reading:

Raising them Right. Theophan the Recluse.
