The Power of Love

Real strength is not found in the arrogrant use of authority, which selfishly presumes to take whatever it demands. Rather, it is seen in the spirit of love, self-giving, and sacrifice.

That is why the words of wisdom about love say: "For love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave; its flames are flames of fire, a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would utterly be despised (Soloman 8:6-7)." Yes, indeed, God is love, and is there anything or anyone stronger than God?

The problem of this generation is that it resorts to the strength of the sword, or to that of the ego, the muscles, the human ambitions: it relies on the power of the instincts, or of the masses, or of money. We tend to forget that all of these are limited, flawed forms of strength, and that the only unlimited source of strength is that of love, the STRENGTH OF GOD.

The message of the Lord Christ is LOVE: what we need to do is to conquer people's hearts with this bursting, piercing divine love! Not for personal benefit, not for any material purpose, but as a natural and spontaneous expression of the fire of the divine love poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

We do not, therefore, resort to enmity, or factionalism, or selfishness for these are all false fortifications. They are quick to collapse, unmasking our weaknesses, leaving us to perish with all those who are spiritually dead. Instead, with love, let's win people's hearts, even our enemies, "Love never fails" (I Cor. 13:8).

MY LORD JESUS
You who have conquered my heart
With love
And captured my soul
With Your sweetness and meekness
And purified my whole being
With Your self-sacrifice and giving;
Grant me the Fire of Divine Love
That I should love all....
All without limits
Without barriers
Without holding back
Anything except from sin.
You are infinite love:
Teach me how you love.
