What is monastic life like? Who qualifies for it? What does it take to make a good monk? At the moment I am divided between marriage life and monastic life. Could you please advise me?

Monasticism is for someone who does not want to live in the world but wants to live a life of solitude with the Lord. It is a life of prayer and total devotion to God. Monks are to practice Christian virtues together, especially love; obedience to their spiritual father; chastity and poverty.

If you are divided between marriage and monasticism, then this means you are not ready for monasticism. For if you were, you would have a clear urge to leave everything and do not think of anything else except your life of solitude with the Lord.

Pray and ask God to lead you to what is best for you and show you what He has planned for you and also consult with your spiritual father. I am sure through prayers, God will reveal to you His will.
