What is the explanation for the verse, "Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth" (Revelation 21:1)? What does he mean by a new earth? Is there a life on earth after the resurrection?

Our Lord Jesus Christ promised to prepare a place for us where He will live amongst us forever. "I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:3). This place is the New Jerusalem, unlike anything in heaven or on earth. The earth is not just a planet, but also a dwelling place for humanity. It was once cursed because of sin.

“Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life" (Genesis 3:17).

According to 2 Peter 3:13, "Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells." We are assured by this promise and joyfully anticipate the time of the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ when all things will be renewed. Thus, the Holy Book of Revelation confirms the fulfillment of this promise. No pain, no toil, no death, no sin, and all that is associated with the unrighteousness on the cursed earth will have dissipated because the holy city is the New Jerusalem where God will dwell with His people forever. Anywhere where God is must be far more superior to just heaven in our imagination, even if it is called earth.
