I notice that when the congregation partakes of the holy blood that the same spoon is given to every member. The thought of catching herpes or some other disease from the spoon makes me uncomfortable. I cannot not partake of the holy body and blood, but at the same time, I do not want to get herpes or some disease.

Because the Holy Spirit is present and because this is the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, does this mean that every time the spoon is used, He could be cleansing it again? Do you think this is a situation where God prevents a disease from being susceptible because it is the Eucharist, or is it possible that everyone in the congregation could catch the sickness of one of the members?

The holy body and holy blood of our Lord Jesus Christ is a burning fire that purges and cleanses us from all sin. There is no documented evidence of any communicable diseases anywhere in the world stemming from partaking of the Holy Eucharist in this manner.
