Since God is the Ultimate Mercy and He loves me more than any one else, including the saints and angels, why would I need to ask them to intercede for me?

  1. With regard to God's love for us: I cannot say, "He loves me more than any one". We are all His children and He loves us all. The idea of loving one more than the other is not an issue with God. God loves the righteous and the sinner but it is up to us to please God or to quench the Spirit.

  2. God wants us to ask: God always wants us to ask Him for our needs. Before our Lord Jesus Christ gave sight to the blind He asked, "What do you want Me to do for you?" (Matthew 20:30-32; Mark 10:46-51; Luke 18:35-41). Although He knows our needs He always wants us to ask.

  3. God wants us to pray together: He also taught us to ask not individually; but together is even better "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them" (Matthew 18:19-20).

  4. Intercession: Moreover, to ask someone else to pray and intercede for you is biblical "pray for one another" (James 5:16). In the Old Testament, although God knew Abimelech's honesty and the integrity of his heart; yet when he mistakenly took Abraham's wife in his house thinking she was Abraham's sister, God did not forgive him until Abraham had prayed for Abimelech (Genesis 20:6-7).
