I read this in the OT 102 course material:

The judges were military leaders sent by God to aid and to relieve His people in time of external danger. They exercised their activities in the interval of time between the death of Joshua and the institution of the monarchy in Israel. Six of them, namely Othniel, Ehud, Barak, Gideon, Jephthah and Samson are treated in some detail and have accordingly been styled the Major Judges. The other six, of whose activities this book preserves but a summary record, are called the Minor Judges.
I understood from the Holy Book of Judge 4:4 that Deborah was a judge and that Barak was her helper; not that Barak is the judge; am I correct or what is written above is correct?

You are right Deborah was the judge and Barak was the commander of the army who under her direction led the battle against Sisera the commander of the army of Jabin king of Canaan.
