What is the meaning of the parable of the unjust steward?

In this parable the Lord did not commend the behavior of the steward but his wisdom. This man prepared himself for whatever the future might bring him before being discharged from his stewardship. We should learn from this parable to be ready for eternity before we depart from this world. In this parable, the Lord admonishes us, His chosen, through the wisdom of the worldly people. So if the people of this world in spite of their sins, know how to take care of and saw a seed for their future, how much more should the sons of God be doing that. Read the Lord's reproaching words: "for the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light" (Luke 16:8).
