The Ultimate Faith

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God" (Romans 12:1-2).

The testing of faith is like refining a precious metal like gold. Refining it requires a lot of work, patience, and an extremely hot fire to bring it to its fullest purity.

God already knows our hearts, but He is still going to test us and put us through trials. He does this to reveal to us what our hearts are made of and what our priorities are. He wants to show us what measures we need to take to transform ourselves, in the hope of producing refined characters of purity and an amazing relationship with our creator.

The ultimate faith is the willingness to give God your life, regardless of the sacrifice you will endure. This faith will exhibit absolute obedience, dedication, joy and a firm belief that God will provide us with all our needs through our sacrifice.

"Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is His flesh" (Hebrews 10:19-20).

God gave us His only beloved Son as a sacrifice for our sins. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the precious and pure gold who gave His whole life for the purpose of God. He did this in order to bring all humanity to salvation by enduring the ultimate suffering on the cross with absolute humility and love for the Father and His children.

"But you, Israel, are My servant, Jacob, whom I have chosen, the descendents of Abraham My friend" (Isaiah 41:8).

God tested Abraham to see how much he loved Him. He put him in a very troubling situation that no one could have imagined, to kill his precious son:

  • The son he longed for all his life
  • The son that God gave him as a blessing
  • The son that will fulfill God's promise to him

The Holy Bible did not show us any hesitation on Abraham's part; he had a tremendous obedience and he did as God commanded him:

  • Went on the mountain
  • Built an altar
  • Gathered the wood
  • Put his son on the altar
  • Raised his knife to kill him

Abraham did not worry or complain because he had complete faith that God will provide a solution. Abraham passed the test and became God's friend and God blessed him beyond measure.

  • Is God expecting the same kind of faith from all His children?
  • Are we be able to have this much faith in this harsh life?

"Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure" (1 Timothy 5:22).

God will call on some to leave their homes and follow His commandments, as we see in the monastic life. The monks become dead to everything that can attach them to life. They go back to a basic life between God and man, and give themselves completely to God in order to live and find their true self in God. But even after giving up everything worldly, they still suffer all sorts of tests (harsh environment, fighting with the devil, loneliness….etc.). Yet they prevail in becoming righteous and holy.

God expects the same from laymen. He demands that we become physically detached from the worldly ways of life and the desire of wealth, fame, pleasure, and comfort. He wants us to carry our cross with our Lord Jesus Christ and obey God's commandments to the fullest extent.

We all have to abide in God, but each one of us has a different assignment, a different road to take and different tests to endure. But the goal is the same, which is to follow the example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ until the end.

"So Jesus said to them, 'Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you" (Matthew 17:20).

The mustard seed represents a small beginning that God provides in all of us (the word of God or the knowledge of God). But it is up to us to give it perfect nutrients, perfect light, perfect irrigation, so that this tiny seed can grow up to about a 15 foot bush (increase in faith). This seed starts out as a small mustard bush as God designed it. But over time with persistence, diligence and reverence, it can turn into a large tree and reproduce (ultimate faith with absolute submission).

"To those who are called sanctified by God the Father, preserved in Jesus Christ: mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you" (Jude 1:1-2).

Experience God's word, love and wisdom in your life and follow His steps every day. And through the testing of your obedience to God's commandments, He will provide the best outcome for you.
