Contest Overview
The Hymns Contest will be conducted at a church level, which means each church will perform as a team.
No memorization is needed for any hymns. Books are allowed.
All papers are allowed (marks/hazzat).
All recording as per the institute of Coptic studies recordings.
All hymns are in the Coptic language.

How To Participate
Hymns Contest registration will be done online.
To participate in the contest, check the Hymns Contest box on the online registration form. You must register no later than December 7, 2008.
Online registration begins at 12:01 AM Eastern Time ("ET") on 10/27/08 and ends at 11:59 PM on 12/07/08 - "REGISTRATION PERIOD."
It is crucial to adhere to the deadline as this process is completely automated. Once the registration period ends at 11:59 PM Eastern Time ("ET") on 12/07/08, the online registration system will not allow adding members or making changes to existing, registered members.

Team Members
There is a minimum number of three (3) members to form a church team.
A church can still participate with a smaller team but will be penalized in the final score by 10 points.
The maximum number of team members is ten (10). If a church team exceeds a total of ten (10) members, the team must split into two (2) teams.

Contest Rules
Please bring your own cymbals and triangle.
There will be no tie between teams. If a tie score occurs, the teams will be asked to chant one of the hymns, randomly selected by the judges.
Please be ready to perform when your church team is called.

Tenen
- Source: "Tenen - We Present to you sacr" or "Tenen"
Vai etafenf
- Source: "Phai Etafenf" or "Fai etaf enf"
Verses of Cymbals for feasts
- Source: "Verses of Cymbals - Ten-o-osht" or "Verses of Cymbals"

Hymns Sources
All liturgical/seasonal and midnight psalmody hymns must be chanted according to the teachings of the Higher Institute of Coptic Studies (HICS) or Mo’alem Ibrahim Ayad. HICS recordings may be found for downloading and streaming on www.tasbeha.org.

Judging
A panel of judges will evaluate the performance of each team.
Each judge will evaluate the performance based on the following:
- 40% Correct tune
- 30% Music and Coptic pronunciation - Midnight Psalmody
- 30% Harmony of performance
All scores from the judges will be added up to evaluate the overall performance of the team.

Prizes
The top three winning teams will be awarded first, second and third place awards.
All participants will receive prizes as well.
