Subject: Last important notes and reminders
Dear All,
Thank you all for your condolences/flower for the departure of my wife to the heavens.
As the time approaches to the Seminary Fall semester, I wish to share with you the following important points and contact persons:
| 1. |
Our daily schedule is attached for any semester. Again, please plan to arrive Thursday night and leave Monday after noon. Our first lecture starts Friday morning (8:30 AM) and our last lecture ends at noon on Monday followed by lunch. So please plan to arrive on Thursday night (8/28 around 6-8 PM) and leave Monday after noon (2-4 PM). |
| 2. |
Dr. Emad Kaldas (emadyk@aol.com) and Dr. Maged George (magedgeorge@hotmail.com) will kindly plan all arrival/departure airport pickups in San Anotnio. Please email them your flight schedule directly with a copy to me. Emad will also coordinate all meals for the seminary (breakfast, lunch and dinner). |
| 3. |
Nabil Aziz will help me in the breakfast preparation each morning. |
| 4. |
George Boutros and Marc Gendi will help in the audio recording of all lectures. |
| 5. |
Ashraf Gerges and Michael Massoud will help in making copies of all lectures. |
I would also like to share with you these important administrative reminders:
| 1. |
All reports and exams need to be completed and submitted on time. Although I initially rejected all late reports, I thought of giving a second chance to those who are late as follows: If reports are not received on time, you lose 20% if received within the following week and 30% if received within 2 weeks. Losing 40% means failing so there is no need to go beyond that time. Since I just thought about this, you will have the chance to submit Fr. Luke's report any time between now and Thursday August 28th. No reports will be accepted after that date. |
| 2. |
If you attended 2 consecutive semesters, you may be able to skip one and only one semester during the whole program. You can write me a letter explaining the reasons for not being able to attend. When approved, you can pay registration fee and obtain a copy of course materials. It will be difficult to ask for a copy and did not attend the semester. The whole idea of attending is discipleship and learning from the fathers teaching the courses. |
| 3. |
As you know, we are still in our first program and we don't have books ready for use. We are therefore recording lectures and working hard to produce books for the continuation of the program. If we have to wait until we produce the books, it may take years to offer the program. You are building the foundation for the seminary and its future. So please don't feel unhappy if you don't find the books ready yet. The instructors for these courses are the seminary instructors for Pope Shenouda's college in NJ and in LA. |
Finally, I welcome all new students and my apologies for not communicating with you as I would normally do. My wife's illness and departure was and still is devastating.
Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all in San Anotnio
Dr. Billatos
