Summer Retreat — High School Boys
Retreat Guidelines

Every visitor and retreatant on the grounds of St. Mary & St. Moses Abbey is expected to follow the rules and guidelines of the Abbey. These rules and guidelines are a must and they are expected of each attendee at the High School Summer Retreat as well.

Abbey's Grounds and Retreat Center
1. Please respect the peace of the monastery and the monks.
2. Please respect the rooming assignments and only sleep in your designated room.
3. Occupants will be held financially responsible for any damages to the room occupied.
4. Everyone is required to be in his assigned room by 9:00 p.m. in order to wake up on time for the Midnight Prayers and Praises at 4:00 a.m.

Attire
1. Retreat attire: pants, short or long sleeved shirts. No caps.
2. Activity attire: sweatpants, track or basketball pants, short or long sleeved shirts. No shorts or muscle shirts.

Attendance
1. Attendance to scheduled events - prayers, midnight praises, liturgies, lectures, and activities - is expected of everyone.
2. Cellular phone usage is not allowed at the Abbey. This is the rule of the Abbey, and it must be respected and followed. You will hand in your cell phone on the first day of the retreat. Cell phones will be labeled and they will be returned on the last day. You may call your parents once you arrive to the Abbey to let them know of your arrival.
3. Chewing gum is not respectful.
4. No CD players, computer games, PSP, iPod, or MP3 players are allowed.

Meals
1. All meals and snacks will be provided by the Abbey, but with your participation.
2. All attendees will help with making meals and cleaning up after meals. A cooking and cleaning schedule will be posted on the Dining Hall door. Upon arrival, please look at the schedule and locate the shift(s) in which you have been assigned to for the period of the retreat.
