The General Funeral Prayer.
A. The rite of the General Funeral Prayer
1. After the conclusion of the Palm Sunday Liturgy, and after all the Holy Sacraments (Communion) is distributed, the priest closes the veil of the sanctuary.
2. The service is started with the reading of the prophecies in Coptic, & then it is translated.
3. The hymn of the Pauline Epistle is chanted in the Paschal tune {eybe [;anc tac/c} [Ethve-te Anas-tasis - For the Resurrection of the dead] in Coptic and then the Epistle is translated. (p. ???)
4. The Trisagion is chanted in the Paschal tune. In all three times, the Phrase {;O ;C Taurwyic di;/mac} (who was crucified for our sake) is repeated.
5. The Litany of the Gospel is prayed.
6. The Psalm is chanted in the Paschal "Ed-ree-be" tune ({Ke ;uperto})
7. The gospel is read in Coptic, and then the Psalm and gospel are translated.
8. The 3 long Litanies are prayed (Peace, Fathers, Congregations).
9. The Creed is recited.
10. The Litany of the departed is prayed.
11. The Lord’s Prayer is prayed followed by the 3 absolutions.
12. The priest raises the cross and chanted {V] nai nan…}
13. The Congregation responds w/ {Ke} 12 times (3 on each side: North then South)
14. The congregation chants the hymn {;pouro} in the Paschal tune.
15. The end of service hymn for Holy Pascha is said (p. 29 DSB)
16. The priest concludes the service with the benediction of Holy Pascha week, and permits the people to depart in peace.
