The dictionary states that a friend is a favorer, a supporter or a sympathizer. The dictionary, of course, is correct in stating that, but a friend is so much more than what they said. My definition of a friend is an angel sent down to each person, to help, guide, teach, love, comfort and be there for you always.Friends are incredible people in your life who mean everything to you, but are not related to you by blood; they are almost like your second family. A true friend is one who does not give you the advice that you want to hear but the right advice that will direct you to the right way.

"A true friend never gets in your way unless you happen to be going down"--Robert Edwards.

A friend is one in whom you can trust and rely on through anything. A friend is one who never turns their back on you, and always have time for you no matter what. A friend is someone who you can sit with, not talk to, but yet walk away feeling as though you have just had the best conversation ever. A true friend will never watch you make the wrong decisions; instead they will always be there to correct you and put you back onto the right track.

The great American writer, Emerson, says " The glory of a friendship is not the outstretched hand nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship, it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he or she discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with friendship".

When reading all the qualities of a friend that I listed above, only One person comes to my mind. That One person would be the Lord Jesus. He is a PERFECT example of a PERFECT friend. He is here for us whenever we need Him, He is always listening to us and is willing to put up with us despite all the things we may do to hurt Him.

"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for His friends" (John 15:13).

A friendship definitely cannot get any better than that. He died for us, what a friend we really do have in the Lord Jesus Christ. Your friendship with others is important but not merely as important as your friendship between you and God. Your friends don't have to die for you of course, but just make sure they're always bringing you closer to the Kingdom of Heaven, because that is what friends are really for. Always thank God every day for the great blessing of friends that He gave all of us. Remember people come and go but true friends will always be with you forever. "A loyal friend is like a safe shelter; find one, and you have found a treasure" (Sirach 6:14).
