Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States

2 Days Left to Register for 2011 Egyptian Election

November 17, 2011

COLLEYVILLE, TX. November 17, 2011 -- The Diocese of the Southern United States is STRONGLY encouraging all Copts with an Egyptian National ID or new Egyptian passport to register for voting in the upcoming 2011 Egyptian Election. An OLD National ID, even if it is expired, can be used to register. There are 2 days left so be sure to register at http://www.elections2011.eg/. The registration will end on November 19, 2011 at midnight (Cairo time).

It is imperative that we do our part regardless if we may feel discouraged. St. Paul reminds us, "being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6). As Copts, we need to do our part. H.H. Pope Shenouda even stated, "Vote! Everyone must vote!".

Let your voice be heard and be sure to register. Do not underestimate your participation. St. Paul tells us, "Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit" (Ephesians 2:19-22).
