Which prophet is the Holy Book of Deuteronomy 18:18 refering to?

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Prophet promised in these verses. Our Lord Himself, declared that Moses 'wrote of Him' "do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; there is one who accuses you; Moses, in whom you trust. For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?" (John 5:45-47). Moses gives promise of both a prophetic order and of the Messiah in particular as the chief of a line of prophets ending in one eminent individual. We see in our Lord the characteristics of the Prophet perfectly exhibited, and the promise of Moses accomplished.
