Could you please show me how to overcome the spirit of anger that is controlling me.

There are many ways to overcome anger:
  1. Try to find out what triggers your anger and avoid it.

  2. Have a humble heart. A humble person does not anger anyone nor get angry from anyone.

  3. He that angers thinks he is right and only sees the faults of others.

  4. Withstand the wrongdoings of others with joy.

  5. Blame yourself for everything that happens and do not blame others, this will quench your anger.

  6. In the midst of your anger, try to think of the consequences of the words you might feel inclined to utter.

  7. St. James says, "let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath" (James 1:19). Being slow to wrath makes a person surpass the emotional stage, come to his senses and be patient. Consequently, the reasons for anger will dissipate.
  8.
  9. Silence in time of anger is a virtue. Do not exchange harsh words with the other party but keep your silence unless you have tender words.

  10. Love those who anger you for "Love bears all things" (1Cor 13:7) and try to understand them.

  11. Let anger pass by and do not hold on to it. St. Paul says "Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath" (Rom 12:19). Give place to wrath means give it way to go away and do not cling onto it.

  12. Pray asking God to give you calmness, patience, self-control and longsuffering.

  13. Pray for the person who made you angry and forgive him/her.
Memorize verses from the Holy Bible that speaks about anger and keep repeating them to yourself:
"The wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:20). "Wise men turn away from wrath" (Prov 29:8). "The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger" (Prov 19:11). "He who is slow to wrath has great understanding" (Prov 14:29).
