Does humility reside in refusing to do good things just to prove our unworthiness; or to avoid falling in the sin of pride? How do we reconcile this with the fact that we are tools in God's hands, regardless of how we feel?

Humility is to feel not worthy of the grace and the gifts God has bestowed upon you; and to thank Him for using you as a tool in His hand. Feeling unworthy should not hinder us from serving the Lord; for this is His command to us to serve with all our heart and with all our soul. Likewise pride should not be an obstacle or an excuse for not serving the Lord. We can rid ourselves of pride if we know the worth of God and His greatness compared to us His creation. We are nothing but clay in the Potter's hands. He can use us in anyway He wants. I advise you to write the article; having in mind the words of our Lord "without Me you can do nothing" (Jn 15:5). Keep in mind that the Lord expects you to be humble all the time.
