Could Your Grace elaborate on the 'the power of the psalms'.

The power of the Psalms is best illustrated and experienced in the Agpeya (Book of the Hours). Each of the seven prayers pertains to significant times and specific hours in the life of our Lord. Each of these prayer times consists of psalms of worship, repentance, hope in God, and triumph in overcoming sin and evil. The meditations of the heart and spirit, and the focus of the mind and soul, remain enthralled by the Holy Trinity, whether the psalms are referring to the Resurrection (the First Hour), descent of the Holy Spirit (Third Hour), the Crucifixion (Sixth Hour), etc. During the Divine Liturgy, Vespers, or other services, the holy Gospel reading is preceded by a pertinent psalm, Psalm 150 which commences the distribution of the holy Eucharist, in addition to other various psalms included in the holy Psalmody. Therefore, if we pray the psalms regularly, as the church has set these guidelines, the psalms will safeguard us all day and all night. H.H. Pope Shenouda III says, "preserve the psalms, the psalms will preserve you." You will find a variety of spiritual literature that attest to the power of the psalms.
