Why did Christ choose to institute the Eucharist on the Thursday before His Crucifixion instead of after His Resurrection?

In order to indicate that on the Friday, He is voluntarily offering Himself, by His own will and authority, as a sacrifice; and also in order for the new Passover (the Eucharist) to replace the old Passover.
