I had a question about Holy Book of Isaiah 19 since a friend of mine told me to read it. I got goose bumps thinking about the words and what is going on in Egypt right now. It says the Lord shall smite Egypt and then heal it. What do you think this means?

Isaiah 19 is prophetic and reassuring of God's continued love for all people. His call for the Gentiles to join the family of God is clearly expressed through His promises. It is also a sign of God's willingness to forgive and reconcile with the people of Egypt who although had once caused the mass exodus of the children of Israel, at a different time of their visitation, showed a willingness to embrace the faith in Christ. Egypt has been mentioned by numerous prophets, for good and for bad. It has been visited by more prophets than any other country outside of Israel. Egypt's greatest honor has been the visit of the Holy Family who blessed its land and achieved many prophecies. When the true faith arrived in Egypt, the people's hearts were ready to accept it and for the past 2000+ years, they have eagerly preserved it and have been willing to shed their own blood for it.

The former Egyptians were a people who were given great intelligence, power, and wealth, all of which they misused. Much of their claim to fame still stands strong today amongst their many antiquities. Alongside these historic statues, stands a beacon of light of Christianity for the world. Because of the former Egyptians' arrogance and relentless oppression of His nation, God swore to smite them in His justice. However, because of God's foreknowledge that the Egyptians would fiercely embrace the faith in Christ, God's mercy has been poured upon this people and He blessed them. It is one of the greatest miracles in the world that has existed for more than two thousand years as a marvel and a witness throughout the world, for despite the fact that the Copts have never ruled their own land, yet Christianity flourished in Egypt and continues to spill abroad, filling and nurturing all nations.

The wonder remains in how this faith has been able to sustain years of brutality and oppression without ever holding arms to defend itself. Therefore, Isaiah delivers God's message of blessings to Egypt His people, not only the land. Likewise, the words of the prophet Joel 3:19 headlines God's defense of the people of Judah, for they are the Christians, since Christ is of the lineage of Judah, and Christians are the children of God. Therefore, Joel also prophesied of God's hand against those who would cause violence in their land. Thus, Christians must continue to pray and keep the faith, and remain the blessed people of Egypt, God's people.
