Jesus was baptized only for being anointed as the Messiah (the High Priest, King of kings, and the Prophet) or for other reasons too? I thought Jesus was baptized to show an example for us to follow.

Moses and the crossing of the Red Sea and Joshua and the crossing of the Jordan River were symbolic of Holy Baptism. These were the examples to follow. The baptism of Christ was an Epiphany and the Theophany, i.e., the manifestation of the Holy Trinity. Thus, Christ was revealed to be the Prophet, Anointed One, High Priest, and the Messiah who would save the world.
