In the Gospel according to St Luke 6:14 (KJV): Simon, (whom He also named Peter), and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, v15: Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called Zelotes, v16: and Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was the traitor.

Please Father, send me if you have any books or lectures which teach about the twelve apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. I want to know all about their backgrounds because some people ask me, so I need to know.

Each of the twelve disciples and apostles are mentioned in the Synaxarium. You can also read about the teachings of the apostles in the Didache, from which many traditions were practiced and some written before the New Testament was compiled and considered the canon of the Church.
