What has the Divine Power empowered us to do?

This question requires clarifying the concept of deification, as I believe you are asking about what God has enabled us to do. "Deification" means we are to become more like God through His Grace or Divine power. In creation, man was made in the image and likeness of God. The Divine Image is in all humanity. Through sin, though, this image and likeness to God was marred and we fell. When the Son of God assumed our humanity in the womb of St. Mary, the process of our being renewed into God's image and likeness began. Thus those who are joined to the Lord Christ through baptism begin a re-creation process being renewed in God's image and likeness. We become, as St Peter states, "partakers of the Divine Nature" (II Peter 1:4). Because of the Incarnation of the Son of God, because of the fullness of God inhabiting the human flesh, being joined to the Lord Christ through faith, means that it is possible to experience "deification," the fulfillment of our human destiny. That is, through the union with the Lord Jesus Christ, we become "children of God." An example of this is illustrated by "the sword and fire." A steel sword is thrust into a hot fire and takes on a red glow. The energy of the fire is upon the sword but the sword never becomes fire. It only picks up the property of the fire. Being joined to the Lord Jesus Christ we SHOULD take on His strength, righteousness, and love. The positive outcomes should enable us to serve and glorify Him. Nourished by the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ we will not bring pain and destruction upon ourselves. There are 2 books for recommended reading: Deification in Christ (Nellas) and The Deification of Man (Mantzaridis) both of which can be acquired within the Mighty Arrows Book Order Form. The answers for this question and many more can be found within these books.
