I interact with a close group of friends on a day-to-day basis. One of them is a Coptic girl. I try my best to treat her with the most respect, concern, and care. Lately (the past few months), I began to develop strong emotional feelings towards her and at times I think that she could be a potential partner. What brings me down is that at times it doesn't seem like I please her as others. At times I tried to do as others in order to please her, but I feel that in doing so I am being a fake person in essence. What can I do?

Developing strong emotional feeling towards someone is not abnormal; the point is how to control this emotion and not allow it to control you. It is good to have friends you respect, but you do not need to be someone else beside yourself to please others, even if it were the girl you care for. Before you start nourishing this feeling towards her, ask yourself if you are ready for a commitment.  I think you should try to concentrate more on your studies and pray that the Lord guide you at this time so that you do not do any irrational move that you would regret later. Keep the friendship without pushing for a more close relation. Be yourself and do not try to compete with anyone else. This would just make you look as lacking self confidence.

Pray to God and rely on God to help you get over these feelings and lead you in the right path. If she is meant to be for you, God will give you clear signs otherwise do not attempt to make decisions based on your emotions.
