"It was the third hour when they crucified him" (Mark 15:25). Does this not contradict what is known at our church that our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified in the sixth hour, according to the Agpeya prayers? Also according to the other three holy gospels, none of them has mentioned specifically in which hour our Lord was crucified.

St. Mark mentioned the hour when the people started to shout before Pilate "crucify Him" which is the beginning of the crucifixion process. But the actual crucifixion was on the sixth hour. That is why St. Jerome and St. Augustine comment that St. Mark, by saying so, has put the responsibility of the Lord's crucifixion on the Jews. For, they had crucified Him with their tongues before the Romans executed the actual crucifixion. John 19:14 also shows that the real crucifixion was around the sixth hour.
