TX. September 1, 2005 -- The Coptic Orthodox Church, represented by His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, 12 Bishops, 174 Priests from United States and Canada, in their Annual Seminar at St. Mary’s Spiritual Vineyard, Charlton, Massachusetts, express their grief and offer their prayers over the disaster caused by Hurricane Katrina which affected several cities in the Southern States.
In a unanimous show of support by all the Coptic Churches of North America, a relief fund has been established through the Diocese of the Southern United States to help those stricken by this hurricane and prayers will be offered in all Coptic Churches for the victims of the hurricane.
We pray that the Lord Jesus Christ restore safety and peace to all who are affected by this disaster.
