How do we know God's will and purpose for our lives?

God's purpose for everyone is that "all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim 2:3). Having this in mind, we can pray asking God to reveal to us His will in making decisions concerning our daily life. Many want God to basically tell them what to do – where to work, where to live, who to marry, etc. The Holy Epistles to the Romans 12:2 tells us, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." When you ask God for guidance, you have to make sure that what you are asking for is not against the Holy Bible teachings, will glorify God and help you grow spiritually. God wants us to make choices that are in agreement with His will. If you are walking closely with the Lord and truly desiring His will for your life, God will place His desires on your heart. The key is wanting God's will, not your own. "Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart" (Psalm 37:4). Pray always; for this is the way to communicate directly with the Lord asking Him to reveal His will for you. Also, consulting your spiritual father will be very helpful in knowing God's will.
