What does searching for God mean? How can a person say he searches for God with all his heart when we sin daily?

"And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jer 29:13).

One seeks what he needs and loves. Anyone who feels thirsty for the Lord, the Living Water, will seek Him. Our Lord did not ask us to leave the world and become monks to find Him. We can find the Lord in reading His Word in the Holy Bible. He is present in nature around us. We find Him in every little thing we do to anyone around us "....Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me" (Mt 25:35-40).

God commands us to seek Him because it really is what we ought to be doing. Our failures and sins should not be an obstacle to pursuing this goal in our lives. We have to know that the more we try to get closer to the Lord; the more will the devil try his best to make us sin and distract us from our goal. However, we should not despair; for we know that God knows the heart of man "for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7). David the prophet whom God considered 'a man after My own heart' did commit a great sin of adultery and murder. No one is without sin not even if his life on earth is one day. Do not let the devil trick you into hopelessness and despair. God judges us according to our heart; how much we seek him and struggle against sin.
