"When we say we bless God, or we glorify God", are we really stating that we want to mirror God's blessing, or amplify the glory He shows us? How can we bless or glorify God when it's the other way around (i.e. "Bless thou the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His Holy name...")?

Blessing God is not meant in the same the manner that we ask for His blessings. Blessing God in prayer and worship pertains to offering praise and gratitude, the true gifts of the heart.
