After a long and stressful day at work, I like to come home and watch comedic TV shows since laughter seems to relief the stress. Often times, these shows contain inappropriate content. Do you have any suggestions for pure alternative ways of dealing with daily stress?

Proverbs 17:22 says, "A cheerful heart is good medicine..." Laughter does relieve stress and is a comic relief. There are different things that bring laughter to people. Some people laugh at others by mocking them, some enjoy inappropriate jokes (sexual, racial, ethnic, etc.), and others enjoy good clean fun because they maintain joy in their hearts at all times, even when saddened. The problem with TV is that most people watch it passively, from one show to the next, including worse commercials than the actual program, even if the initial reason for watching was for a good reason, such as, something important about history, the news, a comedy, medical discoveries, or a documentary. It is very difficult to remain attached to the remote control in order to quickly change or turn off the TV when there are tasteless scenes or intermittent offensive commercials that are unfitting for the viewing of a conscientious Christian. A few suggestions in dealing with stress while bringing joy to the heart is to first detach yourself from the television, have a pet, exercise, serve, read, go on visitations, play a sport, form a club at your church, play an instrument, volunteer.
