When the Israelites wanted to go back to Egypt to eat meat, I heard in a sermon that God provided them meat, but after eating it, they died. Is that correct? If so why did God give it to them? Please let me know which verse in the Bible explains this?

God was already sustaining the nutritional needs of the Israelites while they were in the wilderness of Sinai. They were craving meat and wanted to indulge because they were not content with His provisions of manna. God knew that the desert heat would be troubling to their digestive systems and was actually protecting them. However, because of their relentless complaints, He allowed nature to illustrate this contention. Thus, they died from a form of food poisoning (Numbers 11).
