I thought St. John's baptism was for repentance; so, it does not count as the same baptism as Christ's baptism (Acts 19:5)?

Correct. St. John's baptism was for repentance only. Those who were baptized by St. John's baptism still needed to be baptized by the Christian baptism for remission of Original Sin.
