Is it a sin if I confess but do not say a certain confession, even if I never feel ready to talk to my priest about this sin? I still have to say it right? I am really afraid and uncomfortable to tell or to talk about it. I do not feel comfortable to write it down, too. I am afraid to be judged. I do not want my priest to look at me in a different way. The last time I confessed, I did not feel this relief.

It is not a sin per se if you do not confess a particular sin, but you are also not absolved for it either because the Lord Jesus Christ gave this authority to His apostles in the Holy Mystery of the Priesthood: "Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 18:18). Thus, the sin that you try to hide remains if it is not confessed and not absolved. We are all sinners and need to repent and confess and be absolved. Pray that God will give you the courage and wisdom to confess honestly and plainly. You stand to gain far more than what you think you will lose.
