I am told corruption entered the world through Adam's sin. However the serpent deceived and tempted Eve prior to her fall. Thus, corruption already existed in the Garden of Eden, through the serpent? I ask because it seems the world was a violent place prior to the existence of man; otherwise, why a garden if the whole world was a paradise?

The Holy Scripture does not provide much detail about the creation or fall of angels. The Bible reveals that Lucifer decided to disobey God and was immediately ejected along with his followers. No other mention of divisiveness between God and His angels was ever mentioned in the Holy Bible again. Thus, it appears that this rift happened only once. Angels are timeless and ageless from the time that God created them. Thus, their decision is eternal.

"How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High" (Isaiah 14:12-14).

"You were in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. the workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created. 'You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you. 'By the abundance of your trading you became filled with violence within, and you sinned; therefore I cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of God; and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the fiery stones. 'Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, that they might gaze at you.'''" (Ezekiel 28:13-17).

"And He said to them, 'I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.'" (Luke 10:18).

"And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works" (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

"So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him" (Revelation 12:9).
