The Voice of God in My Ear

"Give ear and hear my voice, listen and hear my speech" (Isaiah 28:23).

When can I feel You in my heart? When can my spirit rejoice? In the midst of quietness of my mother's womb You called on me to comfort me and to teach me how to distinguish Your voice from other voices.

Since I being out of my mother's womb, life has been sets of voices that never end. There is no longer a quiet moment to steal from the world around me. Taking advantage of my time and sitting with You and trying to listen to Your voice in me has never happened yet.

Every day I promise myself that I will open my ears and listen to all that You want to say to me and sit with You and share my life with You. And have You as a part of my daily life, but every day I look to my schedule and say tomorrow.

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die; A time to plant, a time to pluck, what is planted; a time to kill, a time to heal; A time to break down, and a time to build up, a time to weep, and a time to laugh..." (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4).

The parable of the laborers (Matthew 20: 1-16) teaches us about God's timing for each and every one of us. There was a landowner who went out in different times of the day. Early in the morning until the eleventh hour, when it was time to receive their wages he gave everyone equally regardless of the time worked. Then some people started to murmur they did not consider that was fair, to be equal to the people who worked less. But the landowner answered I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for one denarius?

  • Why did our Lord Jesus Christ say this parable?
  • Is it true that God is unfair?
  • Are we more righteous and fair than God?

The first point before we start to analyze the parable, we need to understand that God's wisdom surpasses ours. His knowledge is beyond our comprehension and that He is just and merciful.

The second point is that God wants everyone to enter the kingdom of heaven. He can detect our hearts and knows when is the right moment to invite each one to be part of His inheritance.

The third point that the parable has mentioned is that they all were standing all day waiting to be hired, accepted to come and start working. God invites some when they are children, invite others when they are youth, others in their midlife, and even at the last hour, like the thief on the cross, to enter His kingdom. Thus we as His loving and faithful children should be happy and rejoicing and not envious of one another.

It was a day like any other day, yet You give me another chance. I heard a sermon that moved something inside me and my tears rushed as it was waiting for this moment. I find myself running to be with You, so You can comfort me and assure me that You love me and You will still accept me. How great is Your mercy O Lord and compassion for us.

Since then my life was changed. I am no longer trying to find time but instead I am gladly wanting to spend my time with You. For I am grateful You give me a chance to wake up from my deadly sleep and open my eyes to see You and get to know You. then I find myself that I am no longer wanting to leave You and do my own affairs. All I want in life is to love You, know You more, and worship You with all my heart.

No longer my life becomes my concern because You guide me with what is best for me even when I am sometimes very ignorant about many things. I trust that You know better to lead me to what is more profitable for me.

"Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us the door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains" (Colossians 4:2-3).

Therefore, my friends never neglect to pray for this moment; never forget to listen carefully for God's voice to you, it can be your last chance. And also pray for the others are who in need of the Father's voice in their lives.
