Today's society challenges the youth to stand firm in their faith. There are times confusion enters into their minds and Saten attacks them. Thus they need to be equipped with the Truth to overcome these struggles. David reminds of this when he says, "Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth" (Psalm 127:4).
To be equipped with the Truth, the Diocese encourages the youth to build a strong foundation with God: "Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, 'I have no pleasure in them.'" (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
As our beloved departed H.H. Pope Shenouda explained a church cannot stand without the youth and the youth cannot stand withouth the church. The two go hand in hand. So follow the words of St. Paul, "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).
To serve the youth, the Diocese offers a varity of conventions to address their needs throughout the year. To keep updated of upcoming events, please visit Southern Coptic Yourth Convention (SCYC).

Three Holy Youth (THY)
This is a yearly convention held during the winter break for the college youth. The mission is to enflame in the hearts of our college youth the roots of our rich Coptic faith, history and dogma. Teaching the fundamentals of our Orthodox Christian faith through a theological mini-series enables us to be "...always ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you..." (1 Peter 3:15).
This is a yearly convention held in February for graduates and young professionsals. All new, young Coptic Orthodox graduate converts or Catechumens are especially welcomed to attend. There are two roads but one choice that leads to one victory is the goal of this convention.
Coptic Professional Adults Retreat (CPAR)
This convention, depending on the demand, can be held twice a year: September/October and February. If it is once a year, then it is held in September/October. The goal of this retreat is on serving and building the spiritual life of the single youth at age 30 and above as they journey through the cycle of life. How one travels through these different stages varies from person to person. Yet one should always be joyful for whatever may come onto their path. How can one do this? Where does one get the strength during these cycles? David, the psalmist, says, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices" (Psalm 28:7).
Beat the Heat - Boys (BTH)
