Assistant Professor in Biology/Health Science

Position Description

The Department of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Lee University seeks a full-time Health Science faculty member. The person must have a Ph.D. in Biology or Health Related Field with expertise in Human Anatomy and Physiology. College teaching experience is preferred. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. The tenure track position at the level of Assistant Professor will begin August 2014.


Duties will include teaching courses in the biology and health science core primarily in the area of Human Anatomy and Physiology. Additional teaching would include courses to support both pre-medical (Biology) and Health Sciences (Pre-Nursing, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Physician’s Assistant) students which will be based on the candidates expertise; undergraduate student-faculty research mentoring or other scholarship involvement is expected; advising students as assigned; university and community service; reporting to Department Chair and working cooperatively with departmental faculty in complementing current departmental strengths.


Qualifications include Christian commitment and Community Covenant lifestyle agreement; Ph.D. in appropriate field; demonstrated college teaching ability; ability to develop and mentor small-scale undergraduate students research projects; ability to integrate Christian faith into course lectures; post-doctoral experience preferred, but not required.
